So how did the SWACC 2005 show go? Fantastic. Brilliant. What a great weekend!
This year saw a big increase in people camping with us for the whole weekend, a great increase in show cars and a massive increase in the amount of public turning up on Sunday showday.
Here’s how the whole weekend came together-
A few eager campers arrived on the Thursday night, and proceeded to make their own entertainment! Friday night saw the traditional SWACC Beers & BBQ (those of you who have been to the SWACC weekend will know that Friday night is welcome night. With FREE Beer & Burgers for all the weekend campers ). The camp field was already looking fantastic, everything from Bikes, Customs & Rods to Classic & Modern yanks, with a few R.V.’s & Day Vans thrown in for good measure. After the consumption of several hundred burgers & sausages and 18 cases of beer, it was time for bed for most.
Saturday morning arrived, along with a steady influx of campers and that all important ingredient ‘sunshine’. The Saturday cruise saw 50 gleaming yanks in convoy heading to a local pub with a big car park. The Wentwood Inn did a special menu just for us, so everyone could get a good sized meal at “bar snack” prices! For those suffering too much there was a day of relaxation & sunbathing in preparation for more excess that night.
Saturday’s night’s festivities were held in the Athletic Stadium’s function room with an evening of music from the band Easy Money mixed with a Disco and a raffle. There were some great prizes on offer from our sponsors. The official party may have finished when the stadium shut down in the early hours but some people continued till dawn on the camp field.
Sunday morning, and the weather couldn’t have been better, glorious sunshine and Very, Very Hot. A great mix of both familiar and fresh faces as vehicles poured through the gates. The local Chevrolet dealer set up a display on the show field, even bringing a ‘Mustang powered MG and a stunning Noble. The trade stalls provided a great array of products, something for everyone.
By mid morning the show field was filling up and with upward of 240 cars on the field, there was plenty to drool over. Before the public gates even opened the queue's were amazing, in total over two thousand people stormed through to see the fine array of vehicles on display.
On behalf of SWACC, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended, all those who helped out over the weekend, and to all our sponsors.
We’re looking to go even bigger again next year, and we’d really like to welcome even more of y’all along for the most enjoyable weekend you can have with your clothes on!
SWACC.
